Most of us make New Year’s resolutions, right? Some of us resolve to exercise more, lose weight, or eat a more healthy diet. Some of us may even decide that we need to work less and play more. But, I’ll bet that many of you may have made a resolution to be more organized in the new year.

If you’re like many people, your resolve to keep your resolutions may have already slipped. Remember that, as an CLASS trainer, the resolution to be more organized is essential to delivering CLASS trainings successfully. Arriving at a training with the wrong manual or without the Master Code Justifications can make for a long and trying day! Continue reading for staff trainer Becky Danis’ amusing account of why it is so important for a CLASS trainer to pledge to keep that resolution to be more organized!

One night, I woke up from a nightmare terrified and in a cold sweat. While my dreams are usually positive, they are always vivid. This one was no less vivid than usual, but my anxiety was very unusual.

In my dream, I arrived at my training destination (Who knows where? It was a random room with beige walls and uncomfortable chairs.) After the site host showed me how to operate the projector, I started to unpack my materials. My face immediately grew hot, while my heart started to race. I heard a strange buzz in my ears as I realized my materials were not all there. I asked myself, "Where is my flash drive?" "Why do I have the Pre-K Manual instead of the Infant?" "Where are my Master Code Justifications?" Through my haze of panic, I slowly realized that this event was just a dream—a very bad dream.

Fully awake, I hopped out of bed. I checked my travel bag, knowing only this would allow me to fall back to sleep soundly. It was safely zipped up and complete with my Infant & Toddler CLASS Observation Training materials. I checked my folder and I double-checked my envelopes. Yep! I had my name badge and business cards in one envelope with my flash drives and dongles in another. I quickly glanced to make sure my score sheets, manuals, and justifications were all there. The PowerPoint notes, separated by day and morning/afternoon were lined up in order. I flipped through the program folder and my on-site evaluations, agenda, and the training agreement with the address and on-site contact information, as well as my flight information were all right where I expected them to be. Confident that my nightmare would not be coming true, I slipped back in bed knowing that I would have one last chance at a good dream before my alarm rang to signal the beginning of another race to some unknown training room.
