Focusing on Teacher-Child Interactions on a Broad Scale: A Look at Texas Rising Stars

Texas’ quality rating and improvement system (QRIS), Texas Rising Star, recently changed how the criteria are weighted in their system. Now, 40% of a program’s score is focused on educator-child interactions, while environment, qualifications and training, and program administration are each only weighted 20%. So, why the switch? And how have Texas Workforce Boards responded to the shift in focus?
