As you watch this video, look for how the trainer:
- Models the behaviors associated with a CLASS indicator
- Employs a variety of examples to illustrate a point
- Restates definitions repeatedly using her own words
The trainer also:
- Incorporates the participants’ names in her examples
- Makes a joke and smiles with the participants

What are the benefits of including self- and parallel talk in the classroom? How would you express the value of this behavior to training participants?
Practice
Try using self-talk for a whole minute as you go about some of your routine tasks. Then grab a coworker and practice parallel talk while observing each other. See if you can find ways of modeling the other indicators of Language Modeling in your conversations.
