Look For

As you watch this video, look for how the trainer:

  • Summarizes the training agenda in her own words
  • Affirms the participants’ current level of knowledge and sets positive expectations for their training experience
  • Makes herself part of the group by using “we”

The trainer also:

  • Briefly introduces some of the basic concepts of CLASS Observation Training

Activities

Think
In what ways does setting expectations for training participants benefit both you and the participants? Where are some of these same ideas captured in the CLASS tool?

Read
Read the blog post The Fake Friend vs. The Real Friend: Making the Training Material Relatable for tips on how to approach discussing the training materials with participants.

Practice
Review the CLASS Observation Training Agenda. Practice explaining the agenda in your own words to yourself in the mirror, or to a coworker.
