About the Speakers

Dr. Angela Searcy

Dr. Angela Searcy holds a Doctorate in Education. Her research revolves around brain-based learning assessed by CLASS and its correlation to aggressive behaviors in preschool children. Currently, Dr. Searcy is an adjunct faculty member at Erikson Institute, a professional development provider for Teaching Strategies, a CLASS affiliate trainer, and a Bureau of Education and Research trainer. Dr. Searcy is also the author of Push Past It!, A Positive Approach to Challenging Classroom Behavior, and her newest book, Elevating Equity Advice for Navigating Challenging Conversations in Early Childhood, from Gryphon House Publishing.

Dorothy Sanchez

Dorothy Sanchez is a Development Lead on Teachstone’s Social Impact Team. Her work focuses on understanding and improving the quality of early learning experiences for culturally and linguistically diverse infants, toddlers, and preschoolers by providing meaningful and responsive support to early childhood educators. Through numerous research and community-based projects, Dorothy has supported early care and education agencies, coaches, and educators in providing high-quality services to children and their families. She helped to develop and test a responsive, inquiry-based coaching approach. She worked with infant, toddler, and educators, to increase the quality of routines and experiences that support children’s social-emotional development, cognitive skills, language development, and approaches to learning. She has extensive experience in measuring and analyzing a variety of data, including classroom quality, provider relationship quality, child outcomes, and programmatic information. Dorothy also has experience in measurement development, program evaluation, and facilitation of professional development for early care and education teachers and support staff.
